Hi,
I checked greatschool site but could not find any good public elementary school in Harrison. I have to put my son in grade 1. We are also looking for accommodation that has Indian community around. My husnands ofc is in Newport.
Edison is good option..but with that my husband workplace will be far. Newport rent is on higher side :-(

Request forum members to provide their valuable inputs on this.

Regards,

Regards,

Good schools equals long commute in NJ.

If he works in Newport he'll have to transfer from NJ Transit to either the PATH train at Newark, or if you live on a train line that goes into Hoboken than he'll have the option of either switching at Hoboken to the PATH train or the Light Rail.

Take a look at New Jersey Transit - Home for train lines & schedules. You can look at each line, see whether it goes into Newark or Hoboken, and see what towns are on each line.

I find switching at Hoboken easier. The terminal is much smaller than Newark & easier to navigate. Plus you have the option of PATH or Light Rail to/from Newport / Hoboken.

You gave us three towns--out of those, Harrison and Jersey City (Newport) have pretty terrible public schools.

As others have posted numerous times on city-data, you're either going to get a good commute but pay for private schools... or you're going to have a far commute and good public schools. Answer the sticky and you'll be able to get more tailored advice.
