Just got a voice message that I have no intention of calling back, but just wanted to let others know they are out there. The transcription as what was actually left- the grammar sounds like one of those Nigerian e-mails.
My name is Dennis Gray and I'm calling about an important attachment intending from the US Treasury. Ignoring this will be a deliberate attempt to avoid an appearance before a magistrate or a grand jury and is a federal criminal offense. My number is 201 215 5408.
Note: the caller id said Daniel Fuentes at 202 215 5408.

Report it to the police, although they can spoof caller ID, read two reports of people wiring Western Union to "the IRS" or they would have been "arrested". When you wire money through Western Union they give you an ID number that the person picking the money up uses. That person can pick up the money at any Western Union location.
This is why people no longer pick up the phone. I, myself, have noticed an uptick of strange numbers calling my cell, including from "restricted" numbers, and numbers like "0000000000". So goddamned annoying.
Also, these scumbags tend to prey on the elderly. I tell my mother all the time to never answer any calls from unknown numbers. If it is someone truly trying to get in contact with her for something legitimate, they will ALWAYS leave a message. And if the message is strange or threatening, she needs to call ME first. And never ever ever never ever give any personal info over the phone. Again, consult with me first. I lecture her about once a week (sorry, mom...payback time). Unfortunately, I have an aunt and an uncle who have an acute case of telephone FOMO (fear of missing out) and no matter what I tell them, they pick up every call from any unknown number telling them that they've won a free cruise, or a sweepstakes they never entered, or can get a great credit card deal.
