If you are interested in seeing what kind of crime occurs in each neighborhood, download an app called crime reports.

You can input a Zip code in Newark or just Newark, NJ and filter various types of reported crime.

If you search 07105, you'll mostly notice thefts (street robberies) as the type of crime that occurs in the area. You'll see for homicides 15 of the 16 year to date have occurred in the other wards. The Ironbound had 1 so far in a project housing that was probably gang related. I would not recommend any of the streets around there. Just stay around Ferry, Independance Park, the area closest the Penn Station with th new rentals or around Ann Street school and the side streets along Wilson Avenue. Any of those areas you'll be just fine. If you have a car get a garage. Parking on the street will be hard

And I might add, buy a bullet proof vest for yourself and family.

If you are NOT Portuguese you will not like being the only non- Portuguese speaking person on the block that has no parking.
