The wheather is a big perk. I just saw for the past 2 weeks in Eatontown that it was 35 degrees. It was 70 here! No complaints from me. I don't have a problem with hot weather all summer. The more hot weather the better.
Having sunny days everyday is infinitely better than cloudly cold weather that you get in Jersey.
Still in Keller and appreciating the fact
that we don't have a mortage.
No question on the house costs. I thought I mentioned that. If not you are 100% correct. It is sick how much housing costs there compared to NJ. SICK! A $200k home in TX is EASILY a $400k-$500k home here.
And the selection of houses is amazing there. Any style you want is available. Though 95% of the newer homes are built on top of each other and you have NO space between neighbors. It was hard finding a house in a newer subdivison that had a little land with it.

Clearly it all depends what you want. After living in both I would fall on the NJ side mainly due to food, closeness to better cities (NYC/Philly/etc..) and family.

DFW also has NO public transportation other than the DART which is super limited. They really need to expand those services there. And all new highways there will be toll roads. So it is becoming even more pricey to drive there.

jakel1285 is on a distinguished road
I grew up in Keller. Moved to Jersey for college and stayed. It's a completely different mindset down there, and unless you fit-in you will be uncomfortable. It's a deeply relaxed, Republican, conservative atmosphere. If you aren't used to driving long distances to get places, like the culture of manhattan more than hunting and country bars, aren't deeply christian, can't handle over 100 degree temperatures for most of the summer (trust me, you can't), and can't deal with a flat treeless landscape in most city suburbs... I'd stay put.

Unless you move to Austin or San Antonio... completely different matter.
