Is Paterson, NJ dangerous? My friend lives in Wayne (It's a really nice, suburban town that is very close to Paterson) and he says that he goes there all the time with his friends to hang out and that the area isn't dangerous at all. Is he right? When I drived by Paterson, it looked kind of dangerous to me ... is it bad???

it's not good, if you like playing in the ghetto I guess it isn't the worst place, but only a fool plays with fire

no paterson is not a place for a suburban kid to ba hanging out in...
yes some areas of paterson are dangerous and some are not. but unless you are very familiar with the area i would not take any chances at night

paterson is a sh*thole. You dont want to go there. Newark, Camden, and East Orange are also on the list.

Patterson is extremely dangerous. But as bad as any area is, if one lives there and walks the streets, one develops a sense of safety and comfort zone. In other words if you have a familiar routine walking the same sidewalk every day then you will feel less threatened when you walk outside.

No matter, unless you have an Elephant rifle by your side, dont get out of the car there. Those poor people hear gun fire and dont even flinch. They dont even hit the deck. They are immune to gun fire.

paterson is a very big city. i lived in it and then bordering it in different sections. i also attended church downtown and had jury duty a couple of times. i never felt threatened through any of it, especially on the borders of west paterson and totowa. but i was never too keen on hanging around there at night. also i never saw or heard gunfire in all my years in or around it. not that it doesnt exist!
but i think most crimes are commited through drug trade and gangs.

There are probably a couple of streets in Vegas that could go head to head with Paterson's worst streets!
