We're looking at multiple apartments in Montclair, NJ for our next move. One apartment complex we looked at was right next to the railroad between Upper Montclair and Watchung Ave stops. Is the noise bearable? I assume the passenger train is much quieter than a freight train. Thanks!
Montclair I believe has a "Quiet Zone" on their grade crossings, so trains shouldn't be blowing their horns.
So the main question is just whether or not you find the trains themselves to be too noisy for you. I would think you could deal with it, but it's a subjective thing, you're going to need to go out and see.
