where the f@#! were/are the NJ DOT road clearing crews ?!?!
with all the advance notice of this storm, you'd think the salt/sand trucks would've been out on the highways en masse...
but no !
Rt. 80, Rt. 46, Rt. 3, all were a mess !
my 55 minute commute home took 3 hours !!!!

Well, they don't want to start until after 8pm- that way they can get paid double-time. Why do for regular pay what you can delay a few hours and get paid double for? lol

I think it's b/c they knew it would eventually switch to rain - they didn't want to pay to plow it.

Route 4 was disgusting last night, even after 10PM it looked like not a single plow truck had gone through there. Tons of accidents and my friend who was driving slid around himself. We got off the State highway onto the local roads and they were clean and clear!

One benefit to living in an area like mine - the plows were out at around 8pm. I've never seen streets cleared this well in Union County - hooray for Hunterdon - real snow plans!

Exactly right Bob! They want that OT, especially to boost their salary towards retirement.

When I left my office at 8pm the roads on 80/287/24/78/GSP were all not bad at all. There were effing idiots driving at 20mph but once there were a few inches of clearance I passed them and did 40-50 the entire way home.
