Default Commuting on the NJ Turnpike

How is the commute from Exit 8 to Exit 10 and back? Any different in the summer?

The worst part will likely be between 8 and 8A where the road merges from separate truck lanes into one big happy mess. In general, you're probably looking at less that 30 minutes for that leg of the trip (depending on what time you commute), and in the summer it'll be more painful on Fridays. I'd bet you could be close to 1 hour on Fridays during the peak from say 4:30-6:30.

Yep, did Exit 5 to Exit 9 for three years, then I did Exit 5 to the GSP at 12 for another year. Bottom line, summers are worse, the merge is a *****, leaving early is your only hope.

On normal days - that commute is pretty easy. As mentioned before, Friday PMs can be messy at the merge especially in the summertime. But other than that it is pretty free-flowing unless there is an accident.

However, construction is supposed to start soon to make the turnpike a continuous 6 lanes in each direction all the way down to Exit 6. The construction could make things worse before they get better. Overall, I wouldn't sweat the exit 8 to 10 commute.
