113x bus to Port Authority
Can anyone tell me exactly in where on North Avenue in Westfield or Cranford I would catch this bus into Manhattan? Is it reliable? TIA
Also, is it true you have to wave down/"hail" the bus in NJ as you would a taxi?

The 113X (for Express) does not go through E - SH*T - ABETH. The crappy, slow local does. The last stop for the 113X (where you can actually get a seat) is the Cranford train station. Any stop after that and you'll likely be standing the entire way to Port Authority. And, no, you can't actually wave down a bus and expect them to stop. Well, maybe you can in Elizabeth, because the person doing the waving will likely be holding a handgun.

Okaaaay. Thank you both for the colorful responses.
So where does the bus stop first en route to Port Authority: Cranford? Then Westfield? Sorry, I really don't know this....

It originates either in Dunellen or Plainfield and stops in Westield at the train station on North Avenue, then stops in Cranford. For more info, check the link below:

As for the colorful responses ... JStar and I have a running dialogue on this board. My response was more of an inside joke, as I think was his.

Oh, that's all pretty funny! And here I thought I'd just be getting bus info, and came away entertained as well.
Thank you both!

Umm, actually I would recommend waving down the bus. True, they do only stop at bus stops. But if your stop is served by multiple routes, the driver only stops if you wave/flag down. If you stand still, the driver will assume you're waiting for a different route and he/she will keep on movin.'
At least that's always been my NJT experience.
