The home is beautiful I did notice searching online the area surrounding it isn't that good. going in one direction because it is East Orange the other direction is fine it is West Orange. The home is in the middle of West and East Orange. The home is in a nice area but maybe a mile or half a mile to the right it starts to become a bad area. Anyone know this area? Highland Avenue train station is the train stop.

Not a great area. Depends upon how much you pay. Schools matter? Do you have a car for shopping?

I got off the train on Orange walked to main st it was a very busy street did not look or feel dangerous (it was almost 3pm) I would probably take the train to Orange and then take the 44 bus. Taking the train to Highland Ave would also involve waiting for the bus but that area looks pretty dead nothing going on. There is a building with lofts right across the street so I do not know about commuter traffic during the am hours.

You got the money for private school or one in Manhattan I might suggest a townhouse in a better area.

I just checked around the neighborhood seems like there are many homes that are very well kept. They are clean and well maintained. The bad area seems to be out of the city of orange area it starts in East Orange which is blocks away. Would anyone still consider this?

Lots of bad areas in Orange. Last I checked the crime rate was higher than E.O. 7 Oaks is supposed to be the best area though.

Main and Day, right where the 73 stops if you're going to the Orange train station:

Landing man killed, 2nd man wounded in Orange shooting | NJ.com

Central and Carteret, not far from Highland Ave train station:

1 dead, 2 wounded in Orange shooting | NJ.com

Cary Street, under the tracks between the two stations:

1 dead after shooting in Orange, authorities say | NJ.com

Personally I don't see the point of buying a ~$300k house in Orange and still have to take the bus to the train. If you're going to live in Orange you ought to get something out of it; an easy commute or a very cheap house.

Couldnt agree more with that statement. Buying a 300k house there is crazy.

There have been 3 shootings, 2 deadly, in Orange just in the past few days. Avoid it at all cost.

1 dead in Orange shooting, city's 2nd killing in a week | NJ.com
