Actually, if Carl hadn't stepped in a year and a half ago, the place would have closed up right then and there. Do you want to re-think your statement?

No, I don't. Nor had any idea you and Mr. Icahn were so close enough to be on a first name basis.

Time and time again Mr. Icahn has proven through is track record is that when he steps in it is himself the benefits; anyone else is welcome to come along for the ride, if they can.

that way everyone could qualify for welfare.

fact is atlantic city is a competitive market and the taj is just old and outdated, you don't see the Borgata
hurting for business.

funny how the poorest states, are the most anti union.

Actually statistics show non union shops (car plants vs. UAW plants) pay their employees the same money as a union shop so the union isn't really helping the employees at all when it comes to wages.

If an employer doesn't like the color of your shirt, you should be gone. And vice versa. Freedom means freedom. You are free to work or not work for any person. And for any wage you can convince someone to pay you. Employers should be free to offer any damned pay they want, and as long as someone shows up and says yes, all is good.

If you don't like your wage, BECOME MORE VALUABLE. Why do we think that some people automatically have to be paid more than they are worth simply because they need it? Where the hell did that come from. It's reverse slavery. Unions are reverse slavery, forcing and compelling individuals to pay low level people more than they are worth. Why? No reason, they just need it. When someone takes what they need instead of asking for it or trading for it, we call that theft. And that is what compulsive unions are: Organized and sanctioned thieving organizations that should be prosecuted under RICO laws but instead are given protection by the state. Then we make believe they are benevolent, when the truth is they are agents of theft, slavery, compulsion, and unfair and unjust wage price fixing. They are state-created monopolies and embody everything we hate: price fixing, monopoly, compulsion, protected mediocrity, inefficiency, and ultimately: total abject FAILURE. It's a terrible lesson to teach future generations, and a disgrace to everything America should stand for.

And I'm being generous and gregarious, because to really describe the union mentality accurately would require language and expletives that would be unprintable.
100% right on but I can't for some reason give you rep points!

Do you have a link?

Want a raise? Join a union - Feb. 24, 2015

I can tell you in government the wage scale goes as follows

Political appointees
Union covered employees
Non-union managers

Yes, we operate under crony socialism and my industry is as bad as all the others when it comes to attempting to form a mob to influence those with power to do our bidding. I am against that also. Completely. Which is why, in the little box where they try to take a portion of my dues for political activity, I check NO. I do not want my industry, or any industry, paying off politicians to take stuff from other people or make regulatory rulings that stifle competition and protect turf.

In short, I do not support the real estate industry engaging in cronyism. However, I must note that when everyone else is doing it, our industry does it also, in self-defense. So yes, my industry is just as bad as the unions, and we all need to be swept away in favor of a truly free system.

Obviously, since I post often unpopular, but nevertheless correct, commentary, and am one of only very few who do it under my real name, I must be willing to put my money where my mouth is. So if I cared about "getting business" and becoming a pusillanimous sheep, I would discuss my philosophy in the safety of anonymity, like almost everyone else here. So, it is obvious that I don't care about the repercussions, which oddly, end up being quite good, because I end up working with a very rational subset of people who largely agree with me. And believe it or not, there are lots of them.

In any case, I want a better country and better citizens and that starts with getting rid of collectivism. Unions have to go, and we see that they are going, largely through suicide, and that is a good thing.
