I'm interested in an intense and short-term (about a month - 2 months) course/program that prepares to become a PC technician, or something that prepares for an entry-level IT job?

I think you just gotta go out and DO IT. Only way I know that works, and I've seen and prodded some friends who have worked it all out by now, starting with not much to wizards now.

Visit your local community college & ask what courses they offer & what is a realistic time frame to achieve your goal.

Beware of private technical schools that charge a lot of money.

I think your best best is either to take some classes at your local community college, or just start playing with the technology on your own. You could study for an entry level cert like A+ for example but the boot camps are super expensive and collecting a ton of certs with zero experience wont be that great of a help honestly.

I would suggest looking at job boards for entry level IT roles and see what skills they are asking for, then go out and get them. Then get your foot in the door, and continue learning and growing your skillset.

Dont waste your time on A+. Go with Network+, you will learn so much more. Go for security+ if you have time. I do not find the certificate useful, but I wasnt looking for entry level job.

Any job with a reputable company is going to require a college degree (I'm assuming you don't have one). Unless you just want some side job programming part time for a small company then maybe a certification or two will be sufficient.
