How is commute from Chester? Iselin & Newark Airport
My dh will be working in Iselin and traveling out of Newark... Is Chester an option for us? Where do people in Chester go to the mall--Rockaway, Bridgewater or Short Hills? How about a Target?
thank you!

Newark Airport isn't a bad drive from Chester - about 35 to 45 mins depending on traffic. Chester recently added their own shopping area where the old flea market use to be - high end stores. Otherwise, most people from that area head over to either Bridgewater mall or Rockaway mall. There is a new target in Rockaway and they are also building a new one in Hackettstown. Mansfield, a short trip down Rt. 24 - Schooley's Mtn. has alot of shopping options as well..a new Kohls, Walmart, Marshalls. Lowes, Home Cheapo...... alot of eating places as well. Chester is a good option : ))

Hello Iselin is a part of Woodbridge TWp.
We are not far from bridgewater or shorthills malls but Jersey Gardens Mall and Woodbridge Center Mall also Menlo Park Mall are the closest to you.
and within your commute.
Woodbridge is a great area to live in and its about a 20-25 min ride to the airport.

You might consider Hanover Township (Whippany and Cedar Knolls). Trip to Newark Airport is approximately 22-25 minutes, assuming no traffic on Rt 78. Easy access to major highways; plenty of shopping on Rt 10, Short Hills Mall, Rockaway Mall, Livingston Mall. Reasonable property taxes.

My husband will be in Iselin a few times a week or traveling out of Newark whereas I am home with my kids.
Judith: I would not want to live in the Menlo Park/Iselin area as it is too far from parents etc. I am also hoping to end up in a charming area with excellent schools and i aways LOVED Chester.
I guess I am trying to figure out if we could live there and be happy and it sounds like yes, it would work out. There are enough amenities which was my worry. Right now we live within Atlanta city limits (on 2 acres, sniff sniff will miss that) and shopping is literally a mile away and it feels like we live in the country. I am SO going to miss it but before the Jersey flamers come in and let me have it, I don't have a choice. DH's work is relocating and my parents still live in NJ so it will be a good move for us. OH BUT I WILL MISS THE WEATHER!
I also don't want my husband ending up with a 90 minute commute to Iselin on the days he is in the office!
Cedar Knolls and Whippany are interesting options too--will check those out. How are the schools? That's a bit far to Iselin, though, no?
THANKS
Lola

You know where might be a good option for you...Hunterdon Co. Clinton, Annadale.. all close to Rt. 78 and the town of Clinton Town is adorable. Great school systems as well if you have kids. A small outlet center near by in Flemington. Or even Oldwick, Tewksbury... all really nice areas - upscale areas. You can get a nice mcmansion with property still out that way. You can even venture north on Rt. 517 toward Longvalley - Califon - there's a few new larger home developments up that way and easy access to Rt. 78. Hunterdon was just named as one of the most wealthiest counties in the nation.

Whippany is approximately 30 miles from Iselin (Route 78 to GS Parkway).
