Default Townhomes in Sayreville

Hi All,

We are in the initial stages of looking for a home . We are currently in Jersy City ( renting ) . After some research , we are thinking of Parlin/Sayreville . We have some friends there and I commute to Exchange Place ( Jersey City ) and I believe there is a bus from Sayreville to Jersey City. Reading the posts and looking at realtor I see about 4 communities.

- La Mer
- Harbor Club
- Colony Club
- Sheffield Towne

Also read about "Landings" , but don't see a lot of info on that.
We are hoping to find a good townhome between around 300 K. Is that reasonable ? Which one of these is a better community. We don't have kids right now but are planning to .

Also, are there any realtors specializing in this area. Please respond with suggestions. Any inputs are greatly appreciated.

Hi, I moved with my 9yr old from JC to Sayreville in the summer of '06. We rented first to make sure we liked the area. La Mer is really great. As for the towns of Sayreville/Parlin I also think they're great for families- not so much if you're looking for fun things to do. Lots of "box restaurants" like TGIF, Ruby Tuesday, etc. and Wal*Mart seems to be the the place to be on a Saturday, lol. But- I didn't make the move for me, I did it for my son- schools are great, a lot of the teachers- young & old grew up in and around Sayreville, plus with all the activities (Basketball, football, soccer, cheerleading, gymnastics, dance, horseback riding) and JFK memorial park (Tennis courts, baseball and football fields, pond you can fish in, skate park, etc.) this town can't be beat. SO my fiancee and & I get in the car and drive a few exits north for some nightlife...and we're thankful for all the wonderful things for my son to do the next day.

Hi, Appreciate your response, thank you. I will look more at La Mer. Do you know if there is a bus from there to Exchange Place ( Jersey City ) ?
Also, did you work with an agent while you were looking, if so do you know somebody who is good.

Of the ones you mentioned, I like Colony Club the best. La Mer is very congested; CC is much less so as it is much smaller. Prices are down from last year, so you should have no problem finding something for around 300k. Main Street is another townhouse community.

The Landings is a very small development of 30 upscale townhouses. It is near the marinas and is not in that price range. The houses are outstanding and the quality definitely exceeds the other townhouse communities in Sayreville.

Thanks Julian. Do you know if there is a bus from CC to Jersey City and downtown NY.

I'm afraid I don't know. I would assume that there is one nearby at the very least, but I don't know for sure.

Sayreville is a great place to buy. the taxes are low and schools are good. You can get a 2 bedroom with a basement in Park Village for around 300k. the maint. fee is also very low. Harbor club is good only if you get a true 2 bedroom. When showing my clients places the listing will show 2 bedrooms but the 2nd room has no door on it. Its considered a bedroom but with no door. La Mer is a newer develp. its a very nice place, they are 3 level townhomes. another area to consider is east brunswick, the have excellent school systems and alot of townhome develp. too.

My aunt and uncle live in Parlin. They bought a townhouse (end unit) behind the Harbor Club community for about 462,000 two and a half years ago. It is a beautiful home, with nice views of the harbor from their deck.

there is a bus that picks up right in front of the harbor club sign that goes directly to nyc.

You may want to check out the townhomes/condos in Old Bridge (Society Hill, Rosegate etc.) where nearby bus service to Jersey City (Bus 67) is also available.
