27th? That's an improvement... I believe they were #1 for a while.

I'm guessing that youre not from around South Jersey?? Places in South Jersey like Camden,Paulsboro,Gibbstown, and Salem it can be slightly dangerous.

Well......as the citizens of Camden slowly knock each other off the population decreases and the amount of murders drop just because they are running out of people to murder ?

If there was a rail shuttle or walking path between Philly and Camden's waterfront, I could see the place improving and being the next hot spot otherwise it is cut off from Philly due to paying tolls to cross the bridge. Wasn't a ferry service suppose to come there as well?

Its no Newark but for awhile in the beginning of this year it seemed like Newark and Camden were in a race to see who would have the most murders and gunshot victims

People are always scared of the unknown! Being born and raised in Moorestown, NJ...ranked one of the most desireable places to live in South Jersey...me and my sis always hung out in Camden when we wanted to find some action (1985-2005). Over the past 20 years we have watched Camden change from year to year. Yes, just like any city, there was gun violence, drug use, alcoholism, prostiution, drug dealers, gun shots and more. But, it was mostly in the "hood" parts of Camden (projects) which were knocked down and rebuilt to be really nice homes for hard working people that may not be able to afford other parts of South Jersey. We hung out many nights in Camden but we were never robbed, raped, gunned down, or any other crazy thing associated with Camden. I knew many drug dealers and just about every corner in the city was infested with them. Now, you may find one or two lingering around but nothing like it used to be. The police have gotten there act together and there presence is so heavy now...that many drug dealers don't even stand a chance on the corner. For the most part, it is pretty quiet and things have really changed for the better...you may have an incident here or there but nothing major. We had a lot of fun stomping around Camden when we were younger...by God's grace we were kept safe and sound. If we had listen to the media and newspapers and all their negativity we would have never stepped foot in Camden. What's known as "downtown"...the area we once called lover's lane is now the NJ State Aquarium. They have changed the waterfront area completely...and I failed to mention there are two wonderful colleges, Rutgers and Rowan. I encourage people to ride through if ever in the area...you will find that it truly is a beautiful city.
