It's a great city. Nice environment. The people are great and crime is non-existant.

I guess you're not from around here?

Camden is not a town most people would not want to live/work/shop or even associate themselves with.

Usually in the top 3 towns in the US for stolen cars.

This says it all...

Camden, NJ, violent crime, on a scale from 1 (low crime) to 10, is 9. Violent crime is composed of four offenses: murder and nonnegligent manslaughter, forcible rape, robbery, and aggravated assault. The US average is 3.

Camden, NJ, property crime, on a scale from 1 (low) to 10, is 8. Property crime includes the offenses of burglary, larceny-theft, motor vehicle theft, and arson. The object of the theft-type offenses is the taking of money or property, but there is no force or threat of force against the victims. The US average is 3.

You know, I really find it hard to believe that the OP genuinely wants to know what kind of town Camden is.

Camden is right up there with Gary, Indiana as one the worst place to live in this country. It is a war zone....stay far away.

Hey, don't insult Camden. Gary is close but it ain't the paradise of Camden.

Gary, IN, violent crime, on a scale from 1 (low crime) to 10, is 9. Violent crime is composed of four offenses: murder and nonnegligent manslaughter, forcible rape, robbery, and aggravated assault. The US average is 3.

Gary, IN, property crime, on a scale from 1 (low) to 10, is 7. Property crime includes the offenses of burglary, larceny-theft, motor vehicle theft, and arson. The object of the theft-type offenses is the taking of money or property, but there is no force or threat of force against the victims. The US average is 3.

The State is pumping hundreds of millions of $$$ in Camden, it went from the most dangerous city in the country to the top 5, so there has been some improvement. Now there's been private development of the waterfront with some luxury condos that are desirable. The new State aquarium in Camden is a tourist attraction. Camden has a new minor league baseball team with stadium, The Riversharks, right next to Rutgers-Camden.

The bottom line it is not a desirable place but it has gotten somewhat better outside of the inner city. Some people have no issues buying into the new developments.

Here's an article of interest:

Old saying, "if you put a tux on a pig, it's still a pig".

Camden didn't go from the most dangerous city in America to the top 5. Maybe to the top 5 "dangerous" cities and that's not something to brag about.
