Red face Wanna relocate to NJ suburbs from Jersey City

I work in Midtown Manhattan and my husband works in Middletown NJ. We are planning to buy a town house / single family house around 400-450K. Suggest some good places in NJ which would be closer to NYC and has good schools within our budget. We were thinking about Edison, Marlboro, Manalapan etc .. Which one would be good ??
Also, any suggestions as to what would be the right time to buy a house.

Marlboro and Manalapan will be tough in that price range unless you want to consider condos/townhomes. Edison will have a good selection, but most in that range will be on the less desirable south side of town, which doesn't have the better schools.

Default Check out Laurel Greene in Middletown

Laurel Greene in Middletown has relatively new (5 years old) towhouses with a great floorplan in a very convenient location. There are a few on the market (including mine!) ranging from $449K - $499K. Mine's a 4 bedroom and the others are 3. They're all on realtor.com under the zip code 07748. You can send me a pm if you'd like more info.

If you work in NY & he in Middletown, you may want to find a mid-point. Somewhere like Westfield or Fanwood may be a good fit. The Westfield schools are said to be excellent and quite comparable to Marlboro.

I think Middletowm might be a good fit for you like the previous poster mentioned! The ferry is right there for the NY commute. It's a very desirable location!

Lived in Marlboro. The commute to downtown wallstreet can be from 1.5 - 2 hrs. Way too far. Move closer to NYC.
