Any thoughts on Belleville, NJ
I am currently looking to relocate to NJ from NY. I have been looking into Essex County and so far I like South Orange, Maplewood, and Montclair. I would like to be in an area diverse area with a good school district. My realtor has suggested Belleville, NJ. I have noticed that there is a large amount of homes for sale in Belleville, NJ that are under $400K compared to the towns mentioned above. Does anyone have any insite as to why there are so many homes for sale? Or if anyone has just general input on the town itself?

Montclair is far better than SO and Maplewood. Don't know about BV.

Belleville schools aren't great. Ranked at the bottom for Essex. doesn't even compare to Montclair. You might consider the Brookdale/Oakview sections of Bloomfield.

I briefly lived in Belleville on Linden Ave and it's not a great town. The school system is terrible, and crime is noticeable near the Newark border.

Look into Montclair. If you like Essex County, you should check out Cedar Grove. Decent schools and a nice town.

I'm not a big fan of Belleville. I lived in Bloomfield for 27 years, Belleville is the next town over so I know it well. There are definitely better areas of Essex County.

Stay away from Belleville. What about the village-y side of Roseland ?
