Hi guys,

I just received a job offer that is about 12K more than I make now. The problem is it would require commuting to Parsippany from Wantage NJ. I've heard that route 15 and route 80 are nightmares, I'm just trying to weigh if they are enough of a nightmare to not take the job. Any thoughts would be much appreciated!

day shift ? Have fun on Rt 15, I did it for almost 30 yrs from Wantage (Elias Cole area) to Dover. There is no easy way to do it including Rt 23. Snow storms in winter and in the summertime weekend warriors amplify the problem on Friday afternoons goin' home. The earlier you can start your work day the better off you will be. $12k increase would be worth it for me. I would be asking about flexible hours if at all possible. Good luck with your decision. Nobody will tell you this is an easy commute on 1st shift.

You may not have this option, but I picked 2cnd and 3rd shifts whenever I could get 'em, rough on family life but the commute was a piece of cake , 35 minutes on nites VS double that on day shift in good weather, and I didnt have to get on 80 which is another, even worse crawling bottleneck. Night and day difference. I worked those shifts for nearly 20 yrs just to avoid the commute hassle.

maybe you could take a day off of your present job and during the week ,make a run down to Parsippany during rush hour to see how it shakes out for you.

$12k is a lot of money, no one is Sussex County will give you that raise.
