The street you are talking about is a block away from The train station, city hall and the police station, Station Cab is based right under the station and the cab drivers are always there as are the dispatchers ,Use common sense and you will be fine, Stop by the waiting room and say hello (cherry st between irving and main) I am there more times a week than my wife likes
After i leave the real estate office in a few minutes i will be heading over there (she is out shopping with her cousin)
The Waiting Room is still there!! WoW, we used to go there back in the 80's. Open mic night was a hoot. I dont get to stop in Rahway too much, only to visit my buddy who owns The Brake Stop Plus on Hazlewood Ave

Thank you Brian G for your kind words about Rahway...
I've been a Rahway resident for 9 yrs and have been lurking on and off these boards for awhile and it seems every comment about Rahway is a negative one. As I've said I've been a resident for almost 10 yrs and have enjoyed every one of them. My neighbors are great, I enjoy a great firework show every July 4th, tree lighting ceremony and craft show every holiday season, I've taken various classes made available at the recreation center, and had a nice conversation with our Mayor while walking through Rahway park.

I could go on and on. No it's not perfect but name a place that is. It's just not as bad as most people think. If anything it's improving.

By the way love those Waiting Room Buffalo Shrimp.

Default Hi

My neighbor works at the USPS in Rahway, states area you questioned (Milton, Chesnut) has yet to be gentrified. Area a mix of older homes, and boarding homes.

They moved it around the corner
it is now on cherry street between irving and mains st
The original brick wall that had the painted american flag on it
is hanging on the wall in the new waiting room.

west cherry st is 1 block long that runs from the senior center on esterbrook ave up to the train station...mostly older homes that some of the owners are fixing up and some still need fixing up...
W Milton runs from the train station all the way down to St Georges ave
A lot of beautiful old victorian homes , elks lodge , harley dealership, lawyers offices , funeral parlors ,senior center ect ect
If you go down to St Georges ave and make a left and then a right onto maple ave that will take you straight along Milton lake (some of the nicest blocks in rahway )
