Default Move 2 NJ, but where?

I would like to move to NJ but I don't know what area (nice & safe) I could afford to live in, any suggestions? First some facts about me:

1. 29 single female
2. no children but may adopt in a few years so would be a single parent
3. $70k salary
4. have $60k saved for home downpayment
5. would like a townhouse, at least 2 bedrooms, 3 would be ideal
6. african american - I don't think that's relevant, only that I don't mind diversity :-)
7. obviously want safe area and nice school district (just in case I have child as a single person)
8. prefer north or central jersey--i don't want to be more than 2 hours from NY
9. and obviously I don't want to live check to check, i want to be able to save a little

Any suggestions would be great. thanks
