Hamilton, NJ
Looking at the usual realty websites and I'm seeing a lot of attractive-looking houses at under $350k in Hamilton, NJ. Any opinions/thoughts on Hamilton as a place to live?
Thanks!

Hamilton is large. What part are you talking about? Mercerville, Hamilton Square, Nottingham, etc. Or what school district? Anything in the Steinert district is good.

Eek, I don't know exactly. I was just browsing realtor.com, weichert.com etc. and they only broke it down according to Hamilton (not sections of). Thank you though - I'll be on the lookout for Steinert district!

The Steinert District is definately the most desirable. There are definately some homes you can find in that area. Hamilton West District would be the second choice....however - you will hear both good an bad things. You'll have to make your own decision....I chose not to go there. I didn't like where the High School was located - Actually, I just didn't like the school. But there are a lot of people there who do like it, and are happy.
You should also check out Bordentown Township, and if you like small cities, Bordentown City. Good schools, low crime...good neighborhoods.

The farther you are in Hamilton - away from Trenton - the better

Hamilton overall is a great town. But the section bordering Trenton can be a little rough. Having said that, I would still definitely recommend Hamilton. I have friends that grew up there and still live there, are raising families there. There's so much to do, it's convenient to everything.

Steinert is not a separate district; just make sure that wherever the house is the HIGH SCHOOL is Steinert.
From what I've heard anything NOT in Steinert isn't good (but I don't live there, so who knows).
On another note, their taxes will be exploding soon so look out for that...

Hopewell is your best choice around that area. Hamilton is OK but Hopewell is better with better schools.
