Default Buying health insurance in NJ

My wife and i will be retiring in a year or so, and we're in our late 50s, we're going to need health insurance for a few years till we're elgible for Medicare.

Can anyone recommend helpful resources (brokers, websites) for approaching this decision? I've scouted out ehealthinsurance.com, which is pretty helpful, but i'd like to get some answers to some specific questions re: a pre-existing condition.

Are there consultants who are able to objectively answer questions about rates, policies, etc.? Ideally, i'd like to talk to someone who is knowledgeable about not just New Jersey, but other states nearby as well.

Thanks!

Sorry, I can't give you recommendations but I can give you a link to the federal dept of labor website about HIPAA. This is the law that helps to prevent people who have previously had health insurance not be excluded for coverage under a new plan on pre-existing conditions.
