Congrats on the house. I think your 3 or 4 closest supermarkets are the Acme in Kenilworth, Shoprite in both Garwood and Clark, or the Shoprite right across from Michigan Ave on Rt22. Also others mentioned above, Whole Foods etc. I think that's a nice area overall and you are also close to the Roselle Park train station.

At one time there was going to be an Interstate I-278 continuing from the Goethals bridge to Springfield I-78 near NJ 24 junction, but that got killed way back when I was a grade schooler delivering newspapers, no way that is going to happen anymore, that was about 1968 maybe. There is a website of unbuilt roads online. Just history now.

Roselle Park is nice and safe. Its a little older town with small and tight properties but has its own train station. Only think may kill you are the taxes. They are very high for the price you pay and for what you get. As a realtor i show some houses there and some 80-90 yo houses with yards about 35x100 that cost 250k have taxes 10k a year. But its a nice quiet town nothing wrong with it.

If you like strict police, Roselle and Roselle Park are fine for you.

I live in Roselle Park. For groceries, head into downtown by Chestnut Street. There is a really nice deli/store called Chestnut Hill. You can't do your whole order there, but good if you forget an ingredient or need something quick. I think you'll like Roselle Park. Tons of kids and families around playing soccer in the fields, taking part in parades, library programs, etc. The location is great and the train station is so convenient. Roselle Park isn't flashy like Cranford or Westfield, but it fits the bill for people who want a small town experience. I've lived here my whole life so any questions, feel free to ask!

Thanks!
Congrats. We were almost neighbors , that's until our lender had the house we were in contract with appraised for 50K less than what they were asking and 35K less than what we had agreed on. It's nice that you made it through lol
