commuting to East Side NYC (Ridgewood, Washington: buses, authority, port authority)

Can anyone tell me if there is a bus comes from northern NJ (Allendale or Ridgewood) that stops in the mid-town streets in NYC or do they all go to Port Authority?

You can go to George Washington Bridge bus terminal, but I don't think there's any direct to midtown. Various rules about interstate/intrastate buses make this difficult.
