I am in Seattle and unfortunately seems I cannot get work in the IT field since ALL the indian recruitment companies mess up and screw me over.
I landed a contract role in NJ of all places *roll eyes*
I also just moved here to the US from the UK. It's frustrating.
So, I have potentially landed a role in NJ near Village Blvd.
Being a person that does not drive, nor know anything about NJ or much of America (but learning), I am wondering if someone can tell me the following:
I will be there around 3 weeks per month and flying back home to Seattle on the 4th week.
- Renting hotel rooms would be expensive so what areas near the location above (Village Blvd) is near residential areas so I can see if I can rent a small home, since it would be cheaper than a hotel?
- Is Uber available in NJ?
- How far is it from the nearest airport that has flights to/from Seattle?
- How much are we talking about rent, roughly?
- What is the best advice given to someone in my position? Cheaper to rent in NJ than hotel rooms or...?
And...what's with the eye rolling? New Jersey is our home, and most of us live here because we like it here. Not a great way to make friends with people from whom you seek info, Dude.
Yes, Uber is here.
Nobody can give you an answer about rent without more information about WHERE in NJ you are talking about. It's not one giant blob of sameness.
Seattle and NJ are both expensive, I'm not sure that renting two places is the most cost effective way to go about it. Especially once you add air travel. You're basically talking about spending another three grand a month with this plan.
If you rent a place it's slightly less expensive but you're looking at a year long lease. You might want to try out this scheme for a few months first at an extended stay hotel like the one above and have a look at the housing market before committing.
- the roll eyes was the whole job situation and that I just moved...
Princeton NJ is the place.
A couple of surrounding towns share a zip code with Princeton. I suspect this is the case here. There is a Village Blvd in Plainsboro NJ but w/ Princeton zip 08540.
It is across RT ! from Princeton and there are a couple of businesses on Village Blvd.
There is also a Westin Hotel on that road maybe cut a deal with them?
Uber is available in NJ. Mass transit is also better than most other areas of the country (buses, trains) but probably not as good as in Europe. But you can take the train from Princeton to Newark Airport and Philadelphia's airport also isn't far from Princeton, though Newark is closer. Princeton is sort of in the middle between New York City influence and proximity and Philadelphia influence and proximity, just for reference since you're someone who isn't familiar with NJ or the US. Princeton is a really nice town.
