I grew up in Bergen County and we called it cabbage night, which is one of the less common variations. What I found surprising is that in most place there is no name for it.

In Vermont it was Cabbage Night also. Not known for toilet papering, more for throwing stuff at your house.

They're usually from Jewish delis. Cold cuts, cole slaw, and Russian dressing. My sister found them and introduced us to them. Loved them before I gave up eating dead animals.

But dead animals are so delicious And animals eat other animals so it is a natural process.


Besides, why is it better to eat plants? I am sure they also have soil and do not want to be eaten by human animals...

I have been in NJ for 30 years. I didn't come across these "sloppy joes" for the first 20 years. But they are very popular/distinctive in some towns and virtually nonexistent in others. Personally, I don't care for them... prefer my cole slaw on the side.
