Your choices depend on traffic situations and on how long it might take to beat the East River toll bridges. You have the NJ/NYC toll which you have to pay unless you fly jump or swim across but then the other tolls are optional.

Also IF you were down south by Staten I, you can go east across the Guintified Gangplank, Verrazzano, toll free but west is a double $$ toll so that another option but out of way for you unless youre already there.

Sunday morning is better. Saturday night is bad especially in the summer. All the tourist and beach people clog up the roads.


You may consider the NJT and LIRR (Port Wash) to get to Flushing. LIRR on weekends, you can buy the Cititickets (NYC zone only) on the cheap
