Default Moving to South Jersey, what areas are good?

I am moving back up north from Florida and I need to know what areas in South Jersey near Philly have low crime and top notch schools. I am originally from the PA side and I don't know that much about the Jersey side any help would be much appreciated. Also, are there any areas that have lower taxes with good schools? It seems Jersey real estate taxes are killer compared to PA.

Moorestown, Cherry Hill, Mount Laurel are nice areas with decent school systems.

Top notch public schools: Moorestown, Haddonfield, Cherry Hill, slightly less than top notch: Lenape district - Medford (best), Marlton, Mount Laurel. Voorhees is another solid option with good school district. Schools are funded at the local level in NJ, much different than PA, that's primarily why property taxes are high. You will not find top notch schools in a town with low property taxes in NJ.

There are no low property taxes in NJ.
I concur with the above-mentioned towns. I'm from Cherry Hill and it's become quite the well-heeled suburb with very low crime. Don't let its proximity to Camden scare you- it's two different worlds. Also, the High-Speed Line to Philadelphia is very convenient to downtown Philly
It's about an hour drive to the shore. There is now plenty of culture, diverse restaurants, and do forth. My old high school has a Korean Club, with 40 kids in it! Lots of National Merit Scholars, south Asians and all.
Moorestown might be very pricey.
Good luck. Oh, and don't forget Marlton- next to Medford.

I'll add Swedesboro, Woolwich, and Mullica Hill in Gloucester county NJ to the mix.

concur with all of the recommendations above.

IMO, it seems that Mt Laurel has slightly lower taxes than the surrounding towns. I think its mostly due to all the corporations and hotels located in the twp.

If you think Mt. Laurel has slightly lower taxes then you should check out Southampton,NJ very low taxes there. It's only one town over from Medford. Same High School system, Lenape Regional District, Kids that live in Southampton, NJ go to a Brand New High School that is only about 4 years old (Seneca High School)

I wouldn't say Southampton taxes are low at all. But I would say you'll get more house for your money because it is too far out from main roads.

Southampton's taxes are lower. My brother in law pays $11,000 in taxes for the same size home in Marlton I paid $9,000 in taxes for in Southampton and I had a bigger lot, 1.25 acres.

Southampton is the best kept secret in SJ. But a commute on Patco from there could take 1 hour and 15 minutes via the speedline and 45 minutes by car on a good day.

What I loved about Southampton is it had 1 school, one little league, everyone knew everyone. In fact I think it only had like 2 Wawa's. You were sure to see a neighbor there on any visit.

As for being far from Main Roads, Route 38, Route 70 and Route 206 are main roads....correct? I guess you mean 295? People are so funny they act like Southampton is soooo far away...it was only a 15 to 20 minute drive to the Marlton Circle.

Now that being said, I lived in Cherry Hill for 30 years before I moved to Southampton. Cherry Hill is a great place to live and raise children.

Now I live in Georgia, my house is twice the size, and my taxes are less than half of what they were in NJ.
