I am trying to get rid of my old queen-sized mattress and boxspring and broken bed frame. We don't have bulk pickup where I live except at certain times of the year, and even then, you have to haul your stuff to the town center to get it taken away. I can't carry a mattress that far, and I don't even know when the next pickup will be.
It can't be dumped in my complex. I am on the board and I would report someone who tried to pull that, lol.
How do other people who don't know anyone with a truck and muscle power get rid of things like this?
I was wondering the same thing. I am thinking about getting one of those mail-order mattresses, but they don't haul away your old one. I would probably be able to get the old mattress into my minivan, but I wouldn't even know where to take it.
Google "junk pickup" for your area. There are also places like 800-got-junk that will come over and get your stuff. It's more than it should be for a guy and a truck who knows where the closest trash dump is but it means you don't have to deal with it any more.

Thanks. I get the APP on the weekends, and there's an ad for someone who hauls stuff away, does cleanouts, etc. Might be too small, and as you say, I will pay too much, but I don't know of any other way to get rid of it.
Beds are hard to get rid of, unless you're buying a new one and the deliverers haul away the old bed.
In NJ it's illegal to give a used mattress to a charity, or for a company to sell a used mattress. They can sell used bedframes, but you said yours was broken.
You can sell a used mattress to an individual person.
I learned all this when I had an old bed I was getting rid of.
I ended up using 800 Got Junk, but I also had some other old furniture to haul away that I wasn't able to sell before we moved.
800 Got Junk (I've used them twice - once in NY & once in NJ) were very prompt & efficient both times. They charge by the square footage used in the truck.
I've had a couch, mattress, and box spring hauled off. I asked the locals if they knew anyone. At one of the stores, an employees perked up and and told me that he and his friend would do it. The young guy borrowed dad's pickup and they hauled it away. They put maybe an hour into it and asked for 50 dollars. Other than that, try craigslist.

I'm trying to ask around. I don't know many younger people.
Tie it to the roof of your car. Get on to I80 at night, continue to drive till it gone.
Just Kidding.
