Anyone know about Saint Gobain Plastic company in Bridgewater? (West Orange: houses, to buy)

Looking to buy a house in Bridgewater. A few of them are near the Saint Gobain plastic company building on Milltown rd. Has there ever been concern about ground contamination? Anyone live near it and had their water and ground tested? I know that company has had contamination issues in upstate NY. Thank you

There was this a few years back, where they got dinged for air contamination: https://www.epa.gov/enforcement/sain...act-settlement

They just announced they're closing that location though: Saint-Gobain Relocating Bridgewater, NJ Manufacturing Site | Performance Plastics so hopefully it's not because of ground contamination and the EPA has a chance to review it before they leave. Hopefully the EPA will still have teeth to do something about it as well.

The first thing to check out is if your house will be on well water on city water.

If your house is on city water, for all intents and purposes it doesn't matter if they are pouring chemical sludge in the water, it won't affect you.

For a wealthy town like Bridgewater, I cannot imagine that significantly impacted ground water would exist in a place where residents drank the ground water.

That is a lot of optimism about American corporate policies. If they were putting nitrogen oxides into the air they're going to get into the water.

People are often shocked when I tell them Glen Ridge had a superfund site in the middle of their town until 2004. You think that radium didn't get into the water at some point? Especially when soil from the site was spread into Montclair and West Orange in various projects since 1900?

It does matter if they are pouring chemical sludge in the water because it can migrate into your house. It is not just a drinking water problem. Two local towns, Garfield and Pompton Lakes, NJ, both have a huge ground water contamination that is not in the drinking water but is contaminating houses and businesses.
