just received my ins renewal and husband had received a ticket back in April for Delaying traffic in Middletown, it was pouring and the wipers were not working right and he pulled over to the shoulder and cop gave him ticket for delaying traffic, he paid it $42.00 now the ins show as a 3 point ticket..
we have requested the abstract from DMV but now the insurance company is raising the rate and saying even if it was no points a ticket still shows up and they have the right to raise the rates.. My husband also has a motorcycle and just received the renewal for that and no increase,he's 54 years old never had a ticket and they want to raise the rate, needless to say im looking elsewhere..

If you can qualify for it, you would probably get a better rate from NJM Insurance, which is the consistently highest-rated insurance company in The US, according Consumer Reports' surveys. The only possible glitch is that, in order to qualify, you or your husband have to work for a company that is a member of the NJ Business & Industry Association, or one of you has to be a public employee.

The HR department should be able to tell you if your employer is a member of the NJBIA.

Delaying Traffic? haven't really heard of that one but first find out what the statue is that its written on such as 39:4-blah blah blah or whatever.
Then you can see if the points are correct. Also as I have heard there are NJ motor vehicle points then there are separate insurance co points they can rate you differently.
Also you can wipe out 2 points by taking an online course most anytime.

I got the same ticket in Clifton and took the first option as well at the court. It won't go on the driver's license points but Insurance will still get notified and rates will go up slightly.

For me it sucks because

The woman was stopped in front of me with a left turn signal, I thought she was making a left turn, so i went around her, but turned out she was waiting for a person to cross the street, a cop was behind me saw the whole thing and gave me a ticket.

Which would have taken less time:

A. Waiting for the person in front of you to make that left turn,
B. Waiting by the side of the road to get your ticket?

You know,,, here we are trying to figure out how to work our way out of this forced police state. According to the OP original poster the driver was doing the correct safe considerate thing, pulling over to figure out whats wrong with the wipers and now we all have to play master lawyers and escape artists.

My point is we have slowly but surely allowed the inmates to take over and run this asylum.
