Default If you're leaving NJ - where are you going?

Hi, trying to get a feel of where everyone is going.... We're completely fed up with NJ and have thought about NC, but it doesn't seem that the job situation is good for us.... where would you suggest going if one person worked in the fashion/apparel industry and the other in legal? Atlanta perhaps?

Well, AmericasMart is a big fashion industry hub in Atlanta, but I think it really depends on what type of work you do in the industry- I don't think there's really any "designing" going on in town. Legal opportunities in Atlanta are similar to any big city- you can't swing a dead cat here without hitting a lawyer, so you shouldn't have a problem there.

I'm scared to go anywhere. These topics have scared the crap out of me. Although I'm yearning for Richmond or North Caroline I'm afraid to make any major moves for another 1-2 years.

Moved out of the Jungle of Jersey City, and into a nice quiet suburb of Ohio, Middleburg Heights. Never looking back. Jersey has turned into a something not for me.

Ranking "states" by level of danger and making your decision on whether to move to one of them is almost (not quite, but almost) as ridiculous as basing it on the "red/blue" debates going on in the other thread right now. You can't rate an entire state on such a thing without having to aggregate and then average very disparate areas within the state, which don't give an accurate depiction of any one area someone may be considering.

Well said. My wife and I are looking at Florida. Since we are from the Northeastern part of NJ we feel South Florida is a better fit then rural North Florida.
Then you hear about crime in s.Florida and how the north is red and south is blue--- WHO CARES!! You have to go where you are comfortable. We will be comfortable in Fort Lauderdale. There are very exclusive areas in South Florida and crime ridden neighborhoods as well. Is that not like anywhere else in the nation? All I know is I never want to see snow and Ice and cold Grey Jersey winters again

Consider Weston and Sunrise. They are both a little inland from Fort Lauderdale, and are predominately suburban in look and feel.

well I guess the democratic states do have something positive to share with the rest of the country - wonder what it would do if we put one in the Whitehouse!
