Where are you coming from?
Hackensack, New Jersey

Schools

Where will you be working ? If NYC, what part of NYC?
Midtown NYC (49th st & 8th Ave). Prefer bus commute as I can walk to work from PABT in 10 mins.

Will you buy or rent?
Open to both.

What is your budget ?
$600k max if buying, $2500 if renting.

Spouse and daughter. Daughter will start elementary school next year.

Do you need/want good public schools?
Yes. Looking for schools that are ranked at least 7 out of 10. Need something where all schools (elementary, middle and high) are good. Not interested in places where only elementary school is ranked high.

Briefly describe the kind of neighborhood you'd like to live in
(examples: families with young children, young, mature, artsy, diverse, safe, close-knit, block parties, etc)
Good schools, families with young children, safe.

List three things that are important to you in order of importance.(examples: nightlife, outdoor activities, rural/urban, safety, downtown area, charming, new construction, proximity to XYZ, family oriented, easy parking, short commute, etc)
Good schools. Commute less than one and half hour. Prefer bus commute as I can walk to work from PABT.

I'd stay in Bergen County if I were you. Rutherford probably makes the most sense. Fort Lee / Leonia / Edgewater could work, too.

If you want to get further from the Bergen county sprawl, the Wayne/Pequannock/Montville area are worth a look. Good express bus options out of the Wayne park and rides (local routes as well) and good school systems.
