Looking for fun day trip advice
We are officially on spring break -- YAH! I am looking for a fun day trip to take with my son - 8. The Poconos keeps popping into my mind, but it is not nice enough to swim and we are not skiiers, so I thought I would give this forum a try.
I would like to keep the drive under 3 hours (ish). Has anyone found a great little getaway? Outdoorsy would be great.

How about the wolf santuary over in Knowlton? It's a nice day out and the tour is brilliant! The wolves have full coats this time of the year as well. Or the Poconos does have an indoor water park?

The wolf preserve is Lakota Wolf Preserve and it falls under a Columbia NJ address. Their website is: Lakota Wolf Preserve in Columbia, New Jersey

Where are you driving from? I don't know if you like city but that's a great trip to take. You can go to The Museum of Natural History, Times Square used to have a huge arcade that was fun, Rockefeller Center for ice skating, lots to do.

Your son will love it! They have 4 different wolf packs from various parts of the country. The narration is really interesting and they will even get the wolves to howl for you. The bobcats and foxes are interesting as well. Once you're done there, you can take him for a hike through Jenny Jump mountain - you might just get a glimpse of a black bear and tons of other wildlfe. Jenny Jump is on Rt. 519 in Hope.

I thought of NY as well. We are coming from around Princeton NJ. I guess just looking for something a little different. The wolf preserve sounds cool.

If you are going to go, make sure you call and get a reservation. They only do 2 shows per day. And if your not mcuh of a hiker, take the bus up to the wolfs. My pals decided we should walk...it's uphill the whole way! I needed oxygen and a twinkie when we reached the top : ))

Actually, M&Ms may be having their easter egg hunt for the kids. They put plastic eggs filled with candy out on the front lawn. The place gets jammed pack but the kids love it! I'll check it out - see when it is this year. It's fairly close to the wolf preserve thing.
