But the thing is, if the person doesn't mind it and they actually LIKE or LOVE the area they live in, why should anyone else care lol. DH's 2 uncles commuted for 20 years from Howell to Brooklyn, couldn't pay me in a zillion years. I know a few people doing commutes from Staten Island to Long Island every day. 150K a year, and I still wouldn't do it. But not me to choose.

That is so true. My husband doesn’t seem to mind his commute now because he sleeps on the bus. But when I would commute by bus into the city I could never sleep so I hated it and wld drive in. It was just temporary for me too. I think his commute bothers me more because he is home later and barely gets to soend time with the kids

Yeah. Thats essentially what I meant by the value of the time. If you're making 150k and working (including commute) 70+ hours a week, then I dont think it feels like much except on vacation. Some people are ok with that and I'm not judging, I just hope they recognize it. Its all a matter oc determining the quality of life you want.

For us, my husband only gets home a half hour later then he did when we lived in NY. Around 8, but my kids are older now, schools starts later here, so they are up to see him. And again, he enjoys driving and has been wanted to move to our area since we got married, so the commute is no issue for him.
