Well, the glut of teenagers phoning has died down. Either they all made their arrangements, or gave up!! I only have a few open weeks, and feel pretty good about the families that signed the leases. fingers crossed!

after my graduation me and my friends has a shore house for 2 weeks. my mom decided that she would help us find our house and talk to realtors/owners for us.
i think that my mom's view on it was that she knew what we would be doing down there and knew that she would like to be a part of it so that she could make sure we were safe just because she knew we would be doing it with or without her help.

It seriously depends on who the teens are. If you feel as if you raised your daughter the right way, you have no troubles. Have you ever had any problems with her in the past? Do you trust her? Will she tell you if anything went wrong? Im 18 and im going away alone with my friends. And yes we will be coed rooming. I went away last summer and everything went perfectly fine. I spent most of my time at the beach&boardwalk. If she really knows her friends then she should know which ones to trust and vice versa.

Lets see seniors are going off to college next year. It is ridiculous to suggest they be supervised after their prom when they are going to live on their own next year. Some of you uptight parents just need to let go.

If they don't want to supervise their own kids, why should I take on that liability? Haven't they heard of decks collapsing, date rape drugs, underage drinking arrests ? Just would like to hear others thoughts.....And by the way I don't consider myself an old timer. Just a 40 something mom of 2 teens who knows exactly what they could be capable of in the wrong circumstances!

first of all were livin in the 21st century , not the 1900's. Number 2, anythin teens can do in a house unsupervised they can do in your backyard while your home doing laundry. wake up. & age is just a number that represents how old your body is not your maturity level. 16 is the legal age in new jersey get over it your kids are growin up stop holdin on to them their leaving you soon anyways let them live a little teens are going to do what they want reguardless so give up .. you think just because your 20 years older you cant make the same mistakes as a teenager people your age are probably worst age doesnt explain anything your quote is stupid just because anybody is capable of doing wrong. stop worrying about what other people are doing and worry bout your kids there prob worst then you think go check that out

Well honestly I see no harm in letting our kids go down to Seaside for their prom because sooner or later they're going to grow up and learn how to make the right choices on their own. Also right after prom they should be going to college and not all of us parents will be there to be watching our kids and making sure they do right because all we can do is hope what we taught our kids is what they maintain throughout their lives. By that time our kids should have developed a mind that can be controlled on it's on instead of falling under peer pressure.

hey have some respect for your elders. and use sentences when u type. Back in my day I remember I was about 10 (1995ish) my uncle visited my house who i never met before and I failed to bow down to his feet upon entrance, my father chewed me out that night, now when I look back I appreciate having learnt the value of having descency and respect for elders and especially family, even if u disagree with them.

I really dont have the time to go through all of this but honestly for those of you who are owners and those of you who are parents of soon to be renters. OHHH BOY, I do not envy you in any way shape or form. I know I know the old my kid is not like that. LOLOLOL! Ok sure! I can tell you from experience things are not good. I have been a Jersey guy my whole life and spent most of my summers down the shore and have first hand experience on how silly, dumb, illegal, and whatever else you would like to call these teens could be. We also rented houses for the summer anywhere from Belmar to Seaside Park for the year during college and our early work years, while my friend and I were pretty good we also had our run in and they were no were near as bad as the high schoolers or other low lifes.
Be afraid, Very Afraid.

I love the people or kids sticking up for the teens. HOnestly I just feel bad for 99% of parents if you only knew what was going on. I have one son and I just pray every single day that I dont have a daughter because I do not ever want to hear. "Dad I want to stay down the shore" "Dad I am going to the Surf Club SundaY" Please NOOOO! You parents need luck or God. Something.

Looks like this thread has been around for a while and just resurfaced recently. NO way would I rent to teens if I had a house to rent. Absolutely not!!! Way back (LOL), in the 80s, staying at motel in Seaside was the thing to do as teenagers after the prom. Kids were so drunk and stupid, it's scary. As a twenty-something, I rented houses with friends and, for the most part, we were responsible. However, it only takes one drunk and/or stupid person to ruin things for everyone. And you know, there's always at least one in every beach house! Fun for the kids/young adults who rent? Absolutely! Would I want to be the person renting it out? Absolutely not!
