I must have missed hearing about the traffic law change when it comes to stop signs. Am I the only fool that comes to a complete stop at a stop sign? Are stop signs now just a suggestion? I am waiting for the day that I get rear ended for my complete stop. I used to call it the Brooklyn Roll and then the Staten Island Roll. Now its become the Everywhere Roll. I have seen drivers roll through a stop sign even when there is a patrol car right there. I know we are all in a hurry and don't give ourselves enough time to get to where we need to be; but please, everyone, stop at a stop sign. It can save a life or avoid an accident. Thank you for reading this and I look forward to your feedback.

My first glance on that asks whether it's a real stop sign of a private one which makes a diff to me at times.

The stop sign is now like the right turn on full stop...

No one stops anymore.

Quite often, Stop signs are erected by pandering politicians, to appease residents who bought properties (at a market rate discount) on a busy street/road, and now want to have their cake & eat it too.

So, to those of you who lament motorists not stopping at said signs, consider that they are most likely illegal.

You are not the only fool who comes to a complete stop at the sign. Though my mother taught me how to drive, my father taught her. He learned to drive in Europe during the war.

Stop signs aren't legal if they have a white border, everyone knows this.

i agree that stopping is a must, and i'll take it one step further by slowing down at an intersection where the other car has a stop sign. Why?

just yesterday in front of my house, a car failed to stop and ended up getting t-boned. all parties were OK, but the car was a disaster. this was at 7am in the morning.

just because there's a stop sign (or red light, cf. brooklyn tragedy in march where pregnant mother was run over), is no guarantee that they WILL stop.

Let's get real. I'm not talking about the bull**** fake stop signs you see sometimes. I'm asking all of you about the true stop signs that have been put up by the DOT that most people seem to just slow down for; or if they have a clear view of any on coming traffic, and there is non, they just blow right through it. I guess some of you are those can't stop people and this post is annoying to you.

Yup, me too. I don't really trust that the other parties will stop so I typically slow down.

+1
There are a couple of intersections near me that are controlled by traffic lights, but those devices haven't prevented me from narrowly missing being T-boned a few times by people who seem to be oblivious to the red light that is facing their traffic lane. After the second instance, I learned to hesitate, and to look both ways, before proceeding on a green light.
