Default Moving to New Jersey?

Me and my wife are relocating to New Jersey. I am taking a 2 year assignment on the Hackensack river at a retrofit for a power plant there. I am looking for somewhere to rent either a house or townhouse. We have a 2 yr old and are in need of a safe community that is not too urban or too rural. We are from the south and this is our first excursion to live in the north. Any helpful advice on locations would be much appreciated

I will be working at the Hudson Generating Facility for PSE&G on the Hackensack River. I really know very little about NJ at all. I believe the assignment listed it in Jersey City. I'm not worried about an hour or more commute if need be.

Price range would be I'd say 1500 - 2500 per month on rent.

you have lots of options:
totowa, wayne, west paterson, cedar grove, verona...

i live in the south now but originally from NJ--just moved last year. so i see where you are thnking you will need to commute up to an hour. but in NJ town are attached to eachother--very close. so you can live anywhere and still be within a 20 minute drive. search these thread for best places to live and go from there.
