Barely anybody would take the bus anymore

Maybe thats why they don't wanna expand it

Nope, I am a Mod, but not for NJ. Still in training, so I'll just keep that to myself for now.

PATH existed but not as PATH--it was the Hudson-Manhattan (H&M) Railroad. It became PATH when the Port Authority agreed to take it over and operate it at a loss in the 1960s, and then they cleared away the terminal and built the WTC over the station. It has been running since 1907 or 1908.

The Hudson Gateway project that was supposed to bring new tunnels and tracks was cancelled and that would've expanded NJTransit with junction to PATH but it's all history now unless Trump give it green light.

Without new expansion for PATH & NJTranit, the amount of ridership will only expand beyond the current system can handle. PA is only widening the Harrison Station to accept more people at the platform. They're currently running 6-8min trains during rush hour. They would need to add more trains and drop to running a train every 5mins in the future or else the Harrison, JSQ station will become zombieland.
It will get done. It's a matter of how much the federal government will kick in and when. Trump is withholding because he's in a snit with Chuck Schumer and because his base wants money spent on roads, not public transportation, because public transportation is not on the radar of people in most of those areas.

But it has to be done, and there is movement going on slowly. There is an entity called the Gateway Development Corporation, led by the Port Authority but made up of the various agencies, and the PA just issued an RFP for financial advisory services related to the Gateway project. The engineering industry is forming or has formed their teams in anticipation of the issuance of competitive solicitations once it gets going. It's the topic of conversation at every industry event.

Yep, I still recall the 100th anniversary, when rides were free for a day. Little gestures like that are why I keep coming back for more abuse.

Easy solution, moratorium on people moving to NJ who wish to live within 1 hour of NYC.

Paving the Hudson would be necessary but not sufficient.
