In Waretown there is nothing much. A Shop Rite is almost complete, and it will be the very first supermarket in Waretown.
The next town north of Waretown is Lacey (Forked River, Lanoka Harbor, Bamber Lakes). In Lacey, other than a Shop Rite, there is a Home Depot, several strip malls and a few Auto Zone-type stores. South of Waretown in Barnegat...no large stores there, just a few strip malls.

Thanks for your response. So if you want to go to a shopping mall, nice restaurant, hospital, dr. you have to do some traveling. What about public transportation that will take you into NYC? my email address is: irisbobi@hotmail.com for any info you can give me. Thanks. iris

We are thinking of moving to Oceanaire in 2009. Does anyone still commute to NYC from there. I know Academy has a bus at Forked River. Just looking for feedback on the serivce. Thanks. Also, any other comments relating to Oceanaire would be appreciated. Do they have Verizon FIOS yet? Thanks.

There's also a new Kohl's and Staples on Rt. 9 in Forked River. I can't remember, if it's next to the Shop Rite or the Home Depot.

We also hope to move there in 2009. Unless you want to live on the bus, I wouldn't recommend commuting into NYC.

Besides Waretown has a Sonic!!!

The Kohls is next to The Home Depot, and The Staples will not be opened until February because Staples is over their quota of stores for the year. The new Shop Rite in Waretown is going to have a lot of little stores around it...why, I do not know.
As for commuting to NYC...ouch, is all I can say.
Most people in Waretown have either DirecTV or Comcast...I see a lot of dishes on peoples homes there. In Lacey there is Comcast with a little bit of DirecTV subscribers. Lacey and Waretown do not have FIOS, but then I am anti-Verizon so I would not even get it.
