Anyone know a good exterminator for cave crickets? We just captured one last night in our new home - never seen one before and never want to again! Besides pesticides, any good natural remedies? Thanks in advance!

I used glue boards last year. Within about a week they were all gone.

Go to Lowes and get the insect killer that works for up to a year. It works great, I sprayed last year about this time, and they are still dying. Exterminators are a waste of money.

Lol! I have three cats myself (2 lazy boys and one murderous girl). Hopefully she develops a taste for crickets! She eats stink bugs so... there’s hope.

Good luck on getting rid of them
We have tried all the dyi remedies and finally gave up and got a yearly contract with an exterminator. they love moist areas and can be found around flagstone walls and under the bark of dead trees. I have sealed all the openings I could find, caulked under baseboard, around sills, sealed the garage doors, etc; and still get them. Especially in late fall.

they are big, fast, and have a tendency to hop towards you. use a flyswatter. The glue strips are effective but there are always some that avoid it. I have bait traps also. The slow action poison seems to work that is sprayed everywhere but you will still get them.
good luck again

Doubt if anything works too well, because my parents have had them in every home in NJ they've lived in. But it's worth a try.

Since you say you've never seen one before ... I understand the fear factor. They're big, ugly, gross MFers. I was terrified of them as a kid. We called them jumping spiders. But at the end of the day, they're totally harmless.

Buying a home without a basement next time?

Thanks all! I’m going to try the glue traps. Hopefully it’s a fluke occurrence.

I bought my current home in 1993. I can't get rid of them. It seems that during the winter months they become dormant. During the summer I go cave cricket hunting in my basement. I grab a broom and try to kill as many as I can. It seems that their population has decreased but every time I think I killed the last one, a few days later one or two pop up.

Buy yourself a good broom and Good Luck.

Spectracide Ant Shield Granules. It's works for many insects including these nightmares! You shake it all around the foundation around your house. I was horrified by these things and it works really, really well. We do it in April and again in the fall.
