I live right near the Wesmont/Wright place area, and it's a mess. We toured a few of the units, but ended up buying a home two blocks away in Wood-Ridge proper for far under the price. We're very happy with it.

What we're not happy with is the taxes. They've gone up more than 16% since we bought three years ago, which is beyond ludicrous.

Here's an exerpt from my mortgage statement.

Borough Tax | WOOD-RIDGE BOROUGH | 00316 00004

LAST YEAR
7,181.41

NEXT YEAR
9,713.46

DIFFERENCE
2,532.05

Is there a good time to buy? No, but prices aren't dropping.
1. The US economy is skyrocketing
2. The Fed is raising interest rates
3. The current administration in the State has zero interest in lowering taxes, only raising them.

jhollisphoto Thank you for your reply. 16% that's huge. Do you know if this tax increase was applicable to pulte townhouses? Also,do you think pulte or wright town house with 5 years tax abatement are worth it ?

Not buying in Westmont was a smart decision.

As for the property taxes, those should stabilize once the Westmont tax deferrals wear off.

You’re not going to convince @sam52 of that though. He has already made up his mind and is seeking validation.

If there's something you saw can afford around that area any time is a good time to buy. It’s proximity to NYC and good transit, including trains in surrounding towns that gets you there and back makes it popular for people buying real estate. You might also might want to look at Hasbouck Heights, Carlstadt, Rutherford and East Rutherford, Nutley, and Lyndhurst. Good luck in your search.

@pruebas I don't know what made you think about that but yet I did not make any decision. Still figuring out the market.

@CEN2RION Thank you for your response. Yes Hasbouck heights looks good and looking for houses there. Do you have any idea about secaucus (Riverside court townhouses? ). What do you think of those houses? Will housing prices go up/down in secausu when American Dream Meadowlands mall completes next year? (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Americ...am_Meadowlands)

Secaucus has many flood zones.
Also, traffic/congestion should be a consideration.

Who would live in Secaucus? It’s a polluted swamp!
