We purchased Brand New Construction in 2003 and still had to put about 100K into it. The yard was a mess by I could see the potential. I still have about 2 acres up on the hill that I want to clear out and perhaps put in a nice japanese or english garden... if I'm still here that is. Also there's the "pond". It puts alot of potential buyers off but I can see a nice fountain in the middle... perhaps build it up in the center and put in a nice gazebo... a little bridge to get to the gazebo... ok, I think I just spent another 50K..lol : )

you bring up a good point. my advice is "just because you buy new construction don't think once you walk in the door you're done". you'd be shocked with the expenses that come with a new home.

No kidding! This winter I finally decided to get rid of all those ugly gold door knobs that builders love to give you : ) I replaced them all with oil rubbed bronze fittings instead.. I shopped on-line to save a few bucks and to avoid Home Cheapo / Lowes downgraded line of knobs, etc. - the knobs came to about 300.00..not bad..then I got to the hinges!!! OMG - $700.00 just for the hinges!! It was worth it though as they look great! I don't even want to mention how much it was to replace the cheap and nasty gold light fixtures..lol : ) Why do builders do that anyway... for a few bucks more...put in decent stuff please!

Oh terri, terri, terri....my dear online friend, don't you know you'll have to deal w/ my wife about that house. I'll take the yukon anytime, It can reduce what I spend on gas on my commute tremendously. But I tell you what....I'll trade you the ecco green house for the land on your property that way I can move my home into yours. Now don't let me demolishing your house get in the way of such a wonderful friendship lol

Not just a pretty face?? (Gasp!) :::taking eyes off breast area::: oh, so that's what you look like? LOL. I won't subdivide, I hate people living too close to me, if there's one thing that I would change about my home is that...more room.

That's actually one of my business ideas- following around the builders and offering all of the upgrades they don't- better fixtures, nicer hardware, etc.- so don't be getting any ideas lady...........
