The names of the gangs described the areas of Plainfield they considered their exclusive turf -- territory they defended with violence and intimidation.
But no longer, authorities said yesterday in announcing the latest in a series of sweeps that have resulted in 91 arrests ... since January and the break-up of three local gangs with affiliations to the Crips and Bloods. The gangs, authorities say, terrorized Clinton Avenue, Liberty Street and the 116 building of the Elmwood Gardens apartment complex on West Second Street in the Union County city. ... In a series of raids over the past 10 weeks, state troopers and Plainfield cops entered more than three dozen homes, arresting 91 suspected members of the Clinton Avenue Posse, Lib Side Boys or 116 Boys gangs. ... Those arrested ranged in age from 12 to 69 and came from across the region -- Plainfield, Piscataway, Perth Amboy, Morristown, East Orange, Scotch Plains and Elizabeth. They allegedly were responsible for much of the violence plaguing Plainfield, law enforcement officials said. ... The alleged gang members operated mostly in the northwest section of Plainfield. 10 weeks of raids round up 91 in sweep of gangs in Plainfield- NJ.com |

BRAVO! It's about time we declared war on the gangs in the NJ cities. Hopefully they will continue this operation until everyone of them is behind bars.

Most were out on bail within hours. However, time will tell once the court date comes...
I'm hopeful. |

I hope those who are thinking about buying in Plainfield will read this thread and perhaps pick up a copy of todays Courier news. This is not the first time gangsters from Plainfield have been rounded up.

It's about time. Get them!! No more 3 strikes you're out. Stop them at the 1st!
Google the Fargo Sting? Remember that. All you gotta do to catch them, is print some flyers with some hip hop and reggaeton artist, tell them the concert is free, tell them there will be free food and they'll go to the big room, everybody there will have a rap sheet and/or warrant and bang - you got em! hey, that's how they caught them before. What they thought was a free pass to a party before an Ozzy Osbourne concert in Fargo last night turned out to be a ticket to jail.36 people were arrested after FALLING FOR THE POLICE STING. |

Well said. This operation can not stop now. These creatures must be wiped off the planet. They try to intimidate business owners and residents because they think they own the turf. They dont own jack!

But no longer, authorities said yesterday in announcing the latest in a series of sweeps that have resulted in 91 arrests -- and the capture of an alligator -- since January and the break-up of three local gangs with affiliations to the Crips and Bloods. |

Not the first time, believe it or not. One was picked up in Canada during a gang raid - Alligators are sometimes used as their symbol/mascot.

I just got a Direct Message stating that my last comment wasn't nice and a reference was made to this article:
A new report by the Justice Policy Institute confirms that anti-gang legislation that advocates locking up gang members, charging them with status crimes and charging more juveniles as adults doesn't work. In fact, it adds to the gang problem. Mass arrests, stiff prison sentences often served with other gang members and other strategies that focus on law enforcement rather than intervention actually strengthen gang ties and further marginalize angry young men, according to the Justice Policy Institute, a Washington, D.C., think tank that advocates alternatives to incarceration. |

Well, it is true that gangs are strongest within the prison system. The prison system sustains them, builds bonds in a way the outside can not.
I'm not saying people who break the law shouldn't go to prison. But maybe they shouldn't all be locked up together. Split 'em up. Send some of our Clinton Posse boys out to a prison in LA, some to upstate NY and a few to Gitmo ![]() |
