My resume is over 10 years old. Obviously it needs to be updated.

1. Is it necessary to hire a resume writer?

2. How do you find a legitimate resume writer?

3. Is there a customary fee?

I would say this is completely unnecessary unless you are completely inept or just don't have good command of the English language. There are plenty of free resources online. In general you want to use buzz words like "Managed" and "Facilitated", and be as specific as possible. "Managed a ______ project that facilitated ________ dollars in corporate savings". Things like that.

Or have a degree literally worthless e.i. "Bachelor's in Window Dressing". Other than that, there is indeed plenty of resources online.

Probably this should be moved to a different forum, like Work and Employment. But this is good advice. Write a resume that makes your employer envision you doing things. Specific, impressive things. Using vague language is a very common mistake.
