SALT was a targeted strike on Blue States.

Resist the Orange Skid Mark and NO WALL.

Thanks!

“Eliminating deductions for local and state taxes the tax reform plan will have a devastating effect on New York,” said Congressman King. “We give far more to Washington then we get back. For every dollar we give, we get $.79 back. That’s a $48 billion shortfall and hurts our middle class Long Islanders. This legislation is critical.”

that is because a lot of new yorkers leave new york when it comes time to collect social security and medicare. states dont pay taxes to the government, people do. the same people paying in while living in new york are taking out when they are collecting in florida.

The exclusion of NJ was not targeted to punish, as dems would have you believe.

It did, however, expose states that abused their residents thru ever expanding high taxes.

It signaled, NJ was an economic mess.

Social Security is not "getting tax dollars back". It is it's own fund financed by payroll deductions. It is NOT an entitlement contrary to what Paul Ryan said.

A lot of states that get more in tax dollars back vs what paid have large military or other federal installations. NY and NJ do not. That said I do think the full SALT deduction should be restored. NJ tax issues are partially from the way local governments are set up, fine back 200yrs ago, onerous today. That said you get what you pay for, most of NJ has excellent schools, decent roads, (crowded but most were horse and buggy trails 100yrs ago), and generally good municipal services. We are also the most densely populated state in the country, a lot different than "middle America". With the convenience of goods and services, communications, Arts, etc. yes there is a price to pay.

This is what I don’t understand. SALT is basically a legalized racketeering scheme that funnels money from the federal government to the state. Everybody wants free stuff but nobody wants to pay for it.

Resistance is futile...pay your fair share and no SALT deductions.

all the more reason why the whole "taker vs giver" state stuff is bs. it includes social security and medicare payments. it also includes military spending like you said. its a silly thing that some people fell in love with.

im good with getting the full salt deduction. so i support this bill. funny that steve king is one of the sponsors considering the guy is a full blow evil warmongering POS. maybe spend less on the mass murdering military and the finances of the government wouldnt be so bad.

We were (and still are) forced to pay for two unfunded wars (based on false pretenses), tax cuts for the wealthy, and tax subsidies for profitable corporations.

The majority of us did not want those things to pass, and you want to take away what little we were getting in return ?

GFY

im not sure how anyone can have a serious conversation about government spending without talking about military cuts. the military spending is insane. i dont favor any government spending but most offensive to me is spending on mass murder (and police/prison/etc.). its evil. so it should be addressed immediately and we can deal with cutting other spending after.
