Default Fun places for 20somethings to live in NJ?

Hiii, my friend and I used to live in New Brunswick but can't stand it there anymore. We are 2 young girls (23) looking for another place to live in the same area that is lively/young similar to New Brunswick, where other young people our age live. We don't want to live in an apartment complex with families or elderly people, in other words. We are interested in anywhere in Southern Middlesex, Mercer or Western Monmouth counties or even Northern Burlington County for not too expensive (like $1000 for a 2 bedroom). Anyone have any ideas?? Thank you!!

New Brunswick would be ideal but since you no longer like it, I would say that a similar area would be Hoboken, Jersey City, Edgewater, etc. Those might be better but Hoboken would be the best. Problem with that is the prices are pretty high for the nightlife that you would be able to obtain.

In Middlesex County and Momouth County, I can not think of anywhere that is like a New Brunswick or Hoboken. In Mercer, the only place I could think of is Princeton but it is not exactly like New Brunswick.

Sorry I could not be of more help.

Have you considered Red Bank? I'm not sure about price ranges there but it's a fun place. Might be too east for you. It's right off exit 109 off the Parkway.

I would say if you're looking for nitelife, very good crowd....Hoboken is the place to be...that said, I think an average apt is upwards of $1500....you could consider somewhere close to Hoboken...
Weehawken perhaps...not anywhere by the water, but I think you may be able to find something reasonable...

Best bet is to go and walk around in Hoboken for a weekend and see what you think.

Good Luck

Thanks everyone for all of the help I really appreciate it. As for Princeton or Princeton Junction or Cranbury, anyone know where to find cheap places to live? All I can find are ridiculously expensive places, but the grad students must live somewhere!

Default Red bank

I love Red Bank. Tons of great restaurants and a nice night life as well. Not exactly Hoboken but you would be close to the shore and rent would be cheaper...

Morristown. Cheaper then HBKN or Jersey City but has great restaurants and nightlife. Has a small town feel with the Green in the center of town.
I think its perfect for you.

Princeton Meadows has several apartment complexes that might meet your rental criteria. Also, check out Cranbury, Kingston and Princeton themselves. You may be able to find something in an older home conversion that has a good bit of character but in a great area. You'd have the access to New Brunswick or Princeton for your "nightlife", culture and meeting other people.

For what your wanting you'll need to stay as close to a college town as you can.
