Although I have lived near Parsippany for 6 years I have worked locally and not had to travel into the city except for fun. My job is now relocating to Chelsea area and I have no knowledge of the different transit systems that would work best for my new commute. From early research I know I can catch the bus locally to port authority and subway down, or train from Denville or Morristown and subway from Penn. Both seem to be around 1hr30. Am I missing an alternative? Looks like there is a path train to 14th but no quick easy way to get to Newark penn? Any help appreciated

Definitely check out those trip planners but I don't think you're missing anything. It's bus to subway. Check out google maps too if you haven't already, they integrate the bus and trains

There is a Park & Ride lot in Parsippany on Route 46 East at Beverwyck Rd. (across from Applebees). I drive by there every day around 7am and there is often a long line of people waiting to get on the bus. Another option is to drive to Harrison or Newark and take the Path train. The downside is dealing with all the traffic on I-280 during the morning and evening rush.

Take a train to Hoboken using either Morris Essex Line (faster) or Montclair Bonton line (slightly slower) and take the Path to 33rd, get down at 14th or 23rd Street PATH for Chelsea.

The Bus by you might be the best route. I did the train from Morristown (Denville is 2 stops away) for many years. Take the 1,2,3 subway from Penn Station to Chelsea.

Depending on where in Chelsea, you might be in easy walking distance to Penn Station, which would make the subway connection (and associated hassle and expense) unnecessary. From PABT, most of Chelsea becomes a bit too far to walk (unless youre like me and *really* like to walk).

Edit: I overlooked the mention of 14th Street in the OP. That's a bit of a schlep from Penn, so use the subway. A/C/E for 8th Avenue, 1/2/3 for 7th Avenue.
