Iím looking into the possibility of relocating from Indianapolis IN for a job in Middletown, NJ (near intersection of 35 and South Laurel Ave.). Iíd prefer to keep commute within 30 minutes but willing to go further for the right housing situation.

Real estate & property taxes give me sticker shock.

I have a 28 lb. dog and two cats, so renting is not looking promising, although that would more ideal.

Iím single, so school system is not a concern.

Iím used to living in diverse neighborhoods, so that is a plus.

Iím looking to stay under $400k, with $350k or under preferable. Iíve been looking at both condos and single family homes.

I want to be in a place where I can safely walk my dog. Access to biking / hiking would be a plus.

I currently live in a suburban area and like the idea of being in a small town where I can walk to places to eat, etc. A number of the condos I could afford in Red Bank had no pets.

Iíd consider Ocean County for better prices; in fact, I grew up in Toms River. My recollection of that is sue urban sprawl.

Thanks.
